Well, we're just under two months out and the fine-tuning to our itinerary is taking place. While our major activities have all been booked, some of our overnight accommodations are shifting a bit.
While we are going to have the luxury of traveling in a 29' Winnebago Outlook, with plenty of the creature comforts of home, it seemed to me that a few nights in local lodges along the way may be a nice break from the RV especially for David.
We had already planned for an overnight at the Silver Salmon Creek Lodge, a fly-in experience in Lake Clark National Park known for their bear viewing and photo ops. We have added two nights at the Seward Windsong Lodge immediately prior to what will be a long haul return to Fairbanks from Seward, via possibly Valdez.
I am also looking at the possibility of adding an overnight in Talkeetna at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge that would be after our first three nights of no frills (read "no hook-ups") camping in Denali National Park. I'm thinking we both may be ready for a WARM cozy bed after those three crisp nights in Denali.
Other than that, I think we're about ready for this great adventure.
